The Shelter Makeover II contest has begun.

The Zootoo.com Shelter Makeover II

Our national Shelter Makeover Contest is connecting communities with their shelters across the country to help raise awareness for needy animals and increase adoptions.

Phase 1 - Registration and Point Accumulation
From 9/18/08 to 3/13/09

Shelters and Participants must be registered on Zootoo.com in order to participate in the contest. Points are earned on Zootoo.com through activities on the Website (writing a journal, reviewing your vet and many more). Points are credited to the shelter you have decided to support. At the end of the point accumulation phase, the shelters with the twenty highest point totals will be named Semi-finalists.

Phase 2 - Top 20 Tour
From 3/14/09 to 4/1/09**

Once the 20 Semi-finalists have been decided, Zootoo and its advisors will visit each Semi-finalist to meet with its staff and supporters and view the state of the shelter. Zootoo and its advisors will narrow the field of Semi-finalists down to 10 Finalists based upon their sole determination of which Semi-finalists most deserve the makeover. POINT TOTALS WILL NOT BE A FACTOR in determining the Finalists.

Phase 3 - Public votes by America
From 4/4/09** to 4/24/09**

After the 10 Finalists have been named, America will vote for the Finalist that best deserves the makeover. The Finalist with the highest number of public votes from America will receive the makeover! For the complete set of rules, please see (‡) below.

About the prizes

Thousands of pet lovers are logging on to Zootoo to support shelters in their community. One shelter will win a renovation valued at up to One Million Dollars* - while 19 others will be receiving cash prizes totaling $195,000 to be used for shelter improvements.

The $195,000 will be divided as follows:

• First Runner Up Prize: One award of $50,000 will be given to the Shelter that receives the 2nd highest number of public votes from America.
• Second Runner Up Prize: One award of $25,000 will be given to the Shelter that receives the 3rd highest number of public votes from America.
• Finalist Prizes: The seven Finalists who are not selected as the Makeover Winner, 1st Runner Up, or 2nd Runner Up will receive $10,000 each.
• Semifinalist Prizes: The ten Semifinalists that are not selected as Finalists will receive $5,000 each.
• Most Points Award: One award of $10,000 given to the Semifinalist who earns the most points during the Point Accumulation Phase. This prize is awarded separate from and in addition to the Makeover, First, and Second Prizes. Therefore, any Shelter Participant may win the Most Points Award, regardless of their selection as a Finalist or Prize winner.
